Bespoke Development

We were asked by a large training company to change its MIS system to allow trainee data from signup forms to be recorded.

The Brief

To add new system functionality to take information from trainee application forms and make it possible for admin staff to enter the relevant information onto their existing database system.

Once the data was on the system, to enable the directors to be able to review trainee applications and assign individuals to courses and qualifications.

Our Approach

We worked closely with the stakeholders on this assignment to identify the key features that they were looking for. We then mapped out the high-level flow of information around the organisation and agreed the new features that would give the most business benefit.

Working over a period of 3 weeks, we developed a series of initially paper-based mock-ups, which could be developed into a set of prototype screens.

We reviewed these prototypes during show-and-tell sessions with interested staff and stakeholders to get buy-in to the finished product and to identify any deficiencies in the approach.

We then put a beta version into production to allow a limited number of individuals access so that they could road test the new functionality.

Finally, with all the kinks ironed out, we rolled the updated system out to the remainder of the company's office-based staff.
